## Start with the right workspace and project

Your workspace is the organization that owns the plan. A project is the team space for its numbers, conversations, and integrations. Use the switcher at the top of the app sidebar to check both before making changes.

If you joined an existing team, ask your workspace admin which project and number you should use. Being signed in does not automatically give you access to every number in the organization.

## Move from checkout to setup

1. A workspace admin chooses Add a dedicated number and completes checkout. A payment still processing must clear before setup can proceed.
2. Submit a number request for the intended project. Enter a ZIP preference or choose Any area is fine. A ZIP is a preference; the assigned number is confirmed after setup.
3. Add any forwarding destination or setup notes requested by the form. Submit a separate request for each number you need.
4. Watch the project dashboard for the setup status. Once ready, the number appears in that project’s Numbers page.

**Keep in mind**

Buying number capacity and submitting the setup request are separate steps. A paid slot does not mean a number is already live.

## Check the line before contacting customers

- Confirm the number is in the intended project and available to your account.
- Use a colleague’s consenting test device for your first real message and reply.
- Check the sending identity and where the reply appears before connecting an automation.
- Use the API sandbox when you only need to test an integration; it does not require a number subscription.

## If setup seems stuck

Check for a pending payment, an unsubmitted number request, or a request still in setup. Share the workspace, project, and request status with support so the team can find the right record. Do not submit a second request just to check on the first one.
