Getting started

Set the name and photo people see

Choose how your business appears in a recipient's Messages app before you contact anyone.

Why this is worth doing first

A message from an unnamed number arrives as a bare phone number, and a first message from a number nobody recognises is the one most likely to be ignored or reported. Setting a name and photo means your business is what appears in the recipient's Messages app.

This is the profile your number offers over iMessage. It is separate from the label you give a number inside Miss Blue, which only your own team sees.

Set it on your number

  1. Open Numbers in your project and choose the number you use with customers.
  2. Find Messages Name & Photo.
  3. Enter the business name customers will recognise — the name on your invoices or your front door, not an internal code.
  4. Add a photo: a logo or storefront reads better at small sizes than a wordmark or a busy image.
  5. Save, then send yourself a message from that number and look at how it arrives.

What to use

  • The name customers already know you by. "Barber Launch" reads as a business; "BL-Main-2" reads as a mistake.
  • A square image that is still legible small — most people will see it at the size of a contact photo.
  • The same name and photo across every number a customer might hear from, so a follow-up from a second line still looks like you.

If your name is not showing

A recipient who has already saved your number under their own label keeps their label. Someone who declined the profile will not be offered it again on that conversation. And a profile set moments ago may not reach a device already mid-conversation.

If nothing you send carries the name, check you set it on the number you are actually sending from, then contact support with the workspace, project, and number.
