Using the Message Center

Edit contact names, photos, and custom data

Keep project contact details useful for your team and store the references your integration needs.

Open the contact profile

Names and photos help the team recognize the person. They do not verify identity or combine a separate phone number and email into one conversation.

  1. Open Contacts in the intended project and select the person.
  2. Confirm the read-only Phone or Apple ID field before editing. The name is a label for this handle, not a replacement address.
  3. Update Name or choose a JPEG or PNG photo up to 10 MB.
  4. Choose Save contact and read the save and Apple Contacts sync result.

Add a project field

Keep field names consistent across your project so integrations can find the values they expect. These fields store contact data. Announcements, scheduled messages, automations and templates can use them: {{ contact.custom["Lead source"] }} fills in the Lead source field above when each message sends. A name with no spaces can be written with a dot, like {{ contact.custom.crm_id }}. Saving a field does not create a workflow or update a connected CRM.

  1. In Custom data, choose Add field.
  2. Enter a unique field name and its value, such as Lead source and Website or a CRM record ID.
  3. Use Remove field for an entry that should no longer be stored.
  4. Save contact. Duplicate field names are rejected; blank field names are ignored.

Check the profile and sync result separately

The Apple Contacts sync card shows the available sync state for the contact’s lines. A profile can be saved while a device sync or later photo upload still needs attention. Inspect the saved values before repeating the entire operation.

Keep passwords, API keys, and unnecessary sensitive details out of custom data. These are team contact fields, not a secret store. For integration updates, use the documented contact API and the intended project scope.
